What is UltraShape? Full information.

Has anyone ever had or heard of Ultrashape. In December 2001 IHTIR first reported about the work of Dr. Ami Glicksman who is pioneering the use of ultrasound as a substitute for invasive surgery whereby unwanted fat deposits are sucked out of the body.

Ultrasound, whose use is primarily in imaging as well as breaking up clots in blood vessels has been harnessed and is being applied to "the selective lysing of fat cells without damage to surrounding tissues". A development program, explains Dr. Glicksman, has resulted in a completely non-invasive, safe procedure. Moreover, it is claimed that the procedure, termed "body sculpting", is "accurate in that it can focus on a predetermined layer within the body". Volumes of 500 cc are naturally cleared by the human body.. Larger volumes can be treated in multiple sessions at one month intervals or in one session ending with draining of the lysed fat.

It is suitable for removing unwanted fat from the abdomen, inner and outer thighs and flanks. UltraShape is a non-invasive procedure requiring no anaesthetic, needles or down time. The treatment is performed by a Doctor or Nurse, taking as little as one hour.

Also has anyone has mesotherapy or endermologie for cellulite.

Questions about UltraShape, risks and problems

1. What happens to the fat cells?
During the treatment the fat cell membranes are disrupted. It is dispersed into the fluid between the cells and then transported through the vascular and lymphatic systems to the liver.

2. How many Ultrashape treatments will I need?

This will depend on the amount of fat you wish to loose. You can expect to loose up to 2 cm in body circumference per treatment. More guidance will be given at your consultation with the doctor.

3. Who performs the treatment?
You will always see a doctor for your consultation. The preparation and treatment may be performed by either UltraShape doctor or nurse who has been trained in the UltraShape treatment.

4. What does UltraShape feel like?
The majority of patients report no pain or discomfort.

5. Will I experience any problems or risks following treatment?
You may experience some redness and a mild swelling to the treated area(s), but this should subside within a few hours. Patients have stated that there has been no post-treatment pain or discomfort.

UltraShape technology is safe and effective and suitable for both men and women. The ultrasound beam selectively targets fat cells in the chosen body region and disrupts them without harming surrounding nerves, blood vessels or skin. UltraShape can remove excess fat from around the waist, stomach, hips and thighs. One treatment of UltraShape can reduce the waist by a whole dress size. A session of UltraShape only takes between one and two hours and with no side effects, you can have the treatment and continue with the rest of your day.

Ultrashape cost

The contouring costs $1,000 to $1,400 per treatment. With a strong safety record and rare reports of minor blisters, Ultrashape is awaiting FDA approval in the United States but is already available in parts of the United Kingdom. For example Viva clinic in North London.
