Health Tip: Make Time for Breakfast

Health Tip: Make Time for Breakfast

(HealthDay News) -- Many people don't eat breakfast
because they say they don't have time or think it's a way to save on calories
and lose weight. But breakfast can be a very healthy way to start your day, the Nemours Foundation says.

People who eat breakfast, especially children, tend to eat healthier throughout the day and often weigh less than people who skip the day's first meal.

What you eat is important, so you should make healthy choices for
breakfast. Try to eat lots of fruits, whole grains, and lean proteins.
Eggs, fruit smoothies, and whole-grain pancakes, waffles, oatmeal and
cereals are healthy choices for breakfast.

If you're in a hurry, the Nemours Foundation suggests quick snacks like
yogurt, fruit, or whole-grain muffins. For a healthy snack, try mixing
cereal, pretzels, nuts, and dried fruit as opposed to prepackaged
breakfast pastries or doughnuts that are high in fat and sugar.
